Another area that needs our attention is daily mental and emotional nutrition. Mental and emotional nutrition are quite interrelated in many ways, so I have combined them here. This encompasses a good foundational self-esteem and a positive attitude, one that focuses on the good. Something that many struggle with. Yet to have overall good health, we must feed ourselves positive mental and emotional nutrition on a daily basis.
Mental and Emotional Nutrition Takes A Conscious Effort
Mental and emotional nutrition proves to be as difficult as getting complete physical nutrition for some. Admittedly, there are days that I am so bombarded with negative things of the world, including people, that it takes a real conscious effort to feed myself healthy mental and emotional nutrition. If you don’t, the negative things (and people) will soon drag you down into that unhappy pit of despair. Maybe some people have been in the negative so long, it just becomes a way of life. It is a sad thought. Many have grown up in a negative, unsupporting environment, others have just developed a negative attitude as an adult. For most of us, it takes a very conscious effort to feed ourselves positive mental and emotional nutrition in today’s world.
Good Health Includes Healthy Mental and Emotional Nutrition
There has been an abundance of research indicating the importance of our mental and emotional nutrition on our overall health. I don’t just mean our physical health, but also our mental, emotional, Spiritual and even financial health. I am no expert and am still working on improving my daily mental and emotional nutrition and believe it is a lifelong thing, just like physical nutrition. You can’t just skip days, you have to feed yourself with the right things. We will be drawing on the “experts” in coming weeks to deliver information that can help all of us on this important part of our healthy journey related to mental and emotional nutrition.
This is critical. And laughter and a healthy self esteem are at the heart of it.
